MIXED METAL MOKUME (two day class, intermediate level)

In this class, students will create a hollow form in bronze clay (pillow bead or lentil) and embellish it with textured bronze and copper clays, as well as extruded mokume gane cane designs in a mixture of bronze, copper, and steel.

Demonstration and instruction will focus on the fundamental principals of base metal clay combinations that lead to successful mixed metal creations and composition. Proper mixing procedures for a resulting smooth and workable clay consistency, as well as kiln set-up and firing schedules for different clay types will also be reviewed in detail, along with recommended finishing procedures for fired pieces.

A kit fee of $85 will be collected by the instructor during the workshop.

This workshop is part of the Metal Clay Artists Symposium and requires purchase of the General Registration.
